The “Marcellus Works” plan, which is designed to spur economic growth by tapping into the potential of the Commonwealth’s vast supply of natural gas, has been unveiled in Harrisburg. The package of legislation provides incentives to encourage the use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel. Rep. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango), chairman of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, said this legislation would bring jobs to Pennsylvania, allow for a cleaner environment, and put the state on the cutting edge of new fuel technology. Federal transportation officials have once again rejected the application to impose tolls on Interstate 80, put forth by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and PennDOT. Legislation that would eliminate the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and fold its responsibilities into the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has been introduced in Harrisburg.
